The instillation was pretty straight forward until I got to wiring the thermostat and sorting out the “dip switches”. I wanted to use a regular thermostat instead of the fancy thermostat that was included. Unfortunately the manual didn’t go into detail about how to wire the basic thermostat. I ended up having to call around and find heating and air company willing to come out and me sort it out. But after that the unit is working great!
It's been almost a month and still haven't received my mini splits. This is the 4th system I've purchased from Chill but maybe it's time to use another supplier for the next build
Couldn't be happier, they just did everything they said they would. Not a high bar but very hard to find these days.
Hooking up the electrical supply outside was simple. With the flexibility of the 6 ft whip it’s a breeze getting the supply from the outside wet box to the unit.
Very easy to hook up.self explanatory.Inside box clearly shows where the wires go. Impossible to mess up.
2 wires and a ground for the feed which is called line and 2 wires and a ground from the unit to load. So simply to hook up.The service pull plug is great.mandatory for service.
No problems at all.
Well I have been a contractor since 1985.Some light hvac in my you get years but not my specialty.I know how to use my tools as only basic tools were required.
The wall installation is simply mounting the bracket and drilling the hole. inside unit hung right on the wall perfectly 1st time.
As for my installation outside I bought a wall bracket but due to the stud issues I had to build a full stand. As far as total install outside all electrical and line set (copper piping) went together perfectly and easy.
It took me longer to run my new electrical line as I needed to box etc than hooking up the entire unit.
I even got a permit .Few contactor friends even passed by and were impressed with my workmanship.I highly recommend the MRCOOL brand. Even the packaging was so impressive to me how well and protected the boxes and padding were.
And mostly the online tech support from CHILL was even there late at night when I first inquired about a unit and explained everything to me with few choices and footage vr unit size etc that I was sold and so impressed with my Chill Technician/ sales rep.Tyler that I was sold.
I can honestly say ,Its one of the best things that I added onto my home especially for my back addition. And now The back has its on heat/cool and I closed off the vents from my full house heater which will even preserve the life of that a bit. Total Rating 100% satisfied and I truly believe anyone can install these and even hook up the electrical wires and wet box and the line set without any knowledge. It’s that easy. Thanks CHILL and Tyler for the fantastic service and on time Fast delivery.
I installed a 2.5 ton system right after finishing installing a 2.0 ton Versapro in another house. The install was fairly easy other than the ductwork. I know the included wired controller allows for the most efficiency from the system, but I find it hard to navigate. I am going to install another 2 ton in a rental and use a conventional thermostat. I will post a review of that when I am finished. All in all the Versapro is a great value and if you take the time to learn the wired control I think you will be pleased. The Versapro in very quiet both inside the house and outdoors. The person from Chill Mini Splits I spoke with on the phone (Gary, I believe) was very helpful. I have purchased 2 systems from Chill and will be buying a 3rd next week.
I received the line set kit in good condition. Opened and found that the kit was complete and had everything that I needed. Was able to install it and test the systems out. Works great and was easy to install
Thank you for calling and correcting my order and getting me the right parts to get me up and running!!
On the positive side, the MRCOOL Versapro Includes many items that are required for the installation and I would expect to pay extra for them. They include the wall grommet, vibration pads, wiring between the condenser and air handler and thermostat. The installation is fairly easy.
The bad news, the instructions are not that great. The installation instructions are almost non-existent for the thermostat. I recommend downloading the instructions for the Innovair Slim 24th Wired Control manual. It is the same unit and it explains the wiring and pigtails included with that MRCOOL doesn't mention. The system heats and cool, but the room temperature and the display temperature and off by 7-10 degrees. There is a calibration function that supposedly exists but I have yet to find it. If I can get the calibration done, I would probably give it a 5 star review. I don't know if this will get published but Innovair makes these for MRCOOL. Their instructions are better. MRCOOL add the no vaccines which does make it easy to install. The Versapro is a great value and Chill Mini Splits is very helpful and they ship very quickly. I am installing a 2.5 ton Versapro now and another 2.0 ton shortly. I will write more reviews as I progress.
Installed this surge protector for my MrCool mini split, easy install. Great shipping and arrived before my first power outage.
This is a great simple system, arrived with everything I needed to do 2 zones.
A lot more time than you think you’ll need so you don’t rush, take your time moving through the detailed instructions and you’ll have a terrific experience
The most difficult part of the install was attic access in my home and as such connecting to the ductwork as I changed locations from my original system. Moving it out of the attic I reduced the entire attic ducting by over 60'! It is super quiet has been heating and cooling or doing nothing as needed. I would recommend the full smart thermostat for convenience and remote operation or conditions observation. There is some ambiguity in the installation manual in a number of places which was a bit annoying, but in the end it was more me worrying than anything being a problem. Product seems to be very well manufactured and so far after a few weeks of operation I am thrilled and would highly recommend to anyone considering such a system. I am looking forward ot my next electric bill to see how it all translates over similar time from the last 2 years or so.
